Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Was sued for paternity only to find out the girl was not pregnant

I was dating the daughter of a prominent local attorney. After we broke up she informed me she was pregnant with twins. At this point her father and his law partner started sending me threatening letters and requests for a paternity test.I had to hire a lawyer because this was causing me so many problems. They even called my work.Well when the 9th month came I got a call from the law firms secretary telling me the babies had died in the womb. After doing some ressearch I discovered that she had faked the pregnancy to everyone

I want to know what recourse I have an against who. This has caused me alot of anguish and money. what should I do?? Thank You

Re: Was sued for paternity only to find out the girl was not pregnant

You may have an action for intentional infliction of emotional distress. It will require PROOF that neither she nor her lawyers had a reasonable belief she was ever pregnant. However this will require a finding that the behavior you complain of is shocking and outrageous, and not just upsetting.

IF THE WOMAN YOU WERE DATING KNOWINGLY LIED TO YOU ABOUT BEING PREGNANT YOU WOULD HAVE A CLAIM FOR FRAUD. YOU WOULD ALSO HAVE A CLAIM AGAINST THE ATTORNEYS IF THEY WERE PART OF THE PLAN. HOWEVER, EVEN IF YOU HAVE A CLAIM, IT WOULD BE WORTH IT ONLY IF THE WOMAN YOU ARE SUING HAS ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY DAMAGES. FOR FURTHER ADVICE PLEASE E MAIL OR TELEPHONE AT MY OFFICE.
