Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Getting thrown out of a club abbrasively

I recently had my birthday party at a venue and was thrown out without any kind of provocation. I wanted to know what my rights are as a patron. I wasn't doing anything like falling, dancing on the tables, or anything that would warrant me getting ejected. They instead made a series of mistakes on protocol. What this club did instead was aggressively throw me out without any clear explanation as to my behavior or supposed over intoxication. If my friend wasn't outside with me when this was all transpiring, no one would've really known that I was outside. They would've thought I was kidnapped or something else worse because they wouldn't let me back inside to even collect my things. Also you sent a girl basically out into the street by herself with no one there to help her. I could've gotten run over crossing the street, raped by someone, and who knows what else (considering Venice is not the safest of neighborhoods). Anyway, I'd like to file a complaint but I'm not sure of the correct organization to contact regarding my case. Kindly advise.

The club was probably entitled to make you leave even if it had no good reason or was mistaken about its reasons. Hypotheticals about what might have happened after you were ejected don't matter, and the club probably would not have been liable for any of these things even if they really had happened to you.

I don't see any basis for legal action, though I suppose I might if I had more facts (as, for example, if the club used unreasonably violent means to eject you).

Advice? Don't go back intoxicated. Aren't you aware that any establishment has the right to refuse service [i.e., eject] anyone? For that matter, they could have had you arrested for trespass if you refused to comply or caused an altercation worse than what provoked your ejection. Complain to the manager if you like, but you're wasting your time thinking 'I'm offended, sue somebody'.
