Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

transfer of boat ownership

Hello, I traded my boat for a motorcycle to an eldery gentleman and we signed over the items to each other and kept in contact so I could show him about the boat... Well, very sadly he passed away unexpectedly last week now his daughter and son want to have the boat in their name which is the right thing... my question is, they're not sure what to do and are asking if I can rewrite the contract or receipt as they called it so it can be put in their name... I think I have nothing to do with this matter anymore since the boat is in the fathers name and ownership rights are passed down to the living family. Could you give me any advise? Thanks very much

Re: transfer of boat ownership

The daughter and son are trying to get you to help them evade estate taxes on the value of the boat. Doing what they ask of you would be a crime.
