Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

In U.S.D.C. California (Federal Court), the Answer/Response to a Counter-Claim due from the date of service or the date of filing with the court.

The date of service is not the same as the date of filing with the U.S.D.C. - actually the date of service was a day prior.

Normally the duty to respond to a pleading runs from the date of service. If you are concerned about providing an adequate responsive pleading to a counter-claim in federal court, you may have bigger problems than merely figuring out the time limit for filing your response. Please feel free to call and discuss.
