Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Many years ago, my mom gave me her diamond ring. She wrote on the back of the diamond certificate that the ring belong to me. I left the ring, along with a diamond bracelet I purchased for myself, with my mom for safe keeping as I tend to move frequently and don't wear diamonds much. My mom's now 91 yrs old and I've recently discovered that my brother is pushing her to sell the diamond ring and give him the money. Do I have any rights with regard to that ring?

Yes, based on the facts, it was a completed gift that included delivery. Therefore it is owned by you and not your mother. Thus, if all the facts are proven, you will win. You should go take re possession of the ring now.
