Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Youth organization

My boyfriend and I started a youth football and cheer organization 2 years ago. We formed a new board this year and they kept questioning the bills that were accumulated for equipment, uniforms, food, etc. We ended up quitting because of sanity. The new board said that they would accept the bills and pay them but they have not paid any of them and the bill collectors are now garnishing my boyfriend's wages and our other creditors are calling me to inform me that they have been contacted by the new president telling them that I am responsible for the bill. Can my boyfriend and I legally go and get all of the equipment, uniforms, etc?

Re: Youth organization

If you paid for it and did not give it away in a contract, then you still own it.
