F1 Student apply for another school after OPT Expires

Hi,

I'm a MBA student graduated last year, I'm currently on my Optional Practical Trainning(OPT) now. My OPT will expire on July 1st. I want to apply for another degree program here in US starting September 1st. My question is, Can I stay in US between July 1st. and September 1st. wait for the semester begins, or I have to go back to my original country, then reenter US for my next degree program?

Thank you

Mark

Re: F1 Student apply for another school after OPT Expires

You should be OK as long as the change of status papers are filed with the INS before the end of your OPT (actually before the end of the 60-day grace period after OPT), and assuming you are genuinely changing to another valid degree program.
