Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

I have a green card issued in the seventies that does not have an expiration date. The immigration officers at the airport recently suggested that I should apply for a new green card that I believe comes with an expiration date. Does holding on to the old card cause any problems in the future such as I cannot reenter US?

All older, previous versions of the Permanent Resident/Alien Registration Card are required to be updated with a current version. You can get information and file online for this by visiting the USCIS website: www.uscis.gov. On the Home Page there is a section called "Green Card (Permanent Residence). Under that heading is a link "Renew of Replace My Greencard". Click on that link and you will be provided with the information you need.
