Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

H1-B visa. Married on US citizen

Hello,

my H1-B visa expires by the end of the month. I got married on US citizen ~ 3 weeks ago.

Do I have to rush to send out application and other papers for a Green Card by the end of the month? Do I have to do anything actively by the end of the month?

Thank you.

You should file before your status expires. If you apply your status expires...and after a certain time you need to file for waiver as well for the illegal stay.

It will definitely be in your best interest to file before your status expires not to mention the fact that you will likely save about $1000 if you file before the filing fee increase goes into effect July 30, 2007. We help folks in your situation all the time so feel free to call my office and we will be happy to discuss your case and quote you a fee.
