Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

I-130 approved and how long to get a green card

I am U.S. citizen and have applied for I-130 petition for my parents (from overseas) for permanent residency. It is approved. My mother is coming to the U.S. next week. How long would it take to get her green card?

Thanks!

Re: I-130 approved and how long to get a green card

Your Mother is supposed to have an immigrant visa interview at her country based on the approved I-130 petition, and if the immigrant visa is granted she is coming as an immigrant. This means when she crosses the border she becomes a permanent resident ("greencard" holder).

If your mother tries to enter the US with a non-immigrant visa and she hasn't yet received an immigrant visa then she will be seeking to enter the US as an immigrant which is a fraudulent entry. You should verify she has an immigrant visa before she comes to the US as she could become inadmissible if she tries to enter fraudulently.
