Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Immigration Law

I know someone who came to the USA on a Multiple Visa, then stayed past the six month period allowed. Unknown has been illegal for about two years.

1. Can Unknown become a citizen?

2. How can unknown become a citizen?

3. What are my options.

Re: Immigration Law

To be a citizen, one must have a green card for at least 5 years as the first step. But this person can't even get a green card because he/she failed to live up to the promised bargain by failing to leave the U.S. when the tourist visa length of stay expired. He/she can't get anything at this point under the law.
