Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

I was arrested for insurance fraud its a felony im out on bail right now I have court in two days is it possible to get probation its my first offence I didnt collect money from the insurance the car I was driving was not mines I just lied about the place and date and who drove the other car I was with four others my friend new the person who hit us

DO NOT try and talk your way out of this as anything can and will be used against you. For instance, it doesn't matter if you didn't collect the money. Submitting the false claim with the intent to collect is what is illegal and its a serious crime. The fact it was not charged as a misdemeanor but as a felony means you could serve 2, 3, or even 5 years in prison, fines and restitution. You may have been contacted by the insurance fraud investigator, police, etc. and have already implicated yourself....

The people who prosecute insurance fraud are specialized to do so. If you have a public defender they will most likely just ask whether you did it and then ask you to plead guilty if you did. You ought to get better legal representation for yourself.
