Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

Hello, We had a fire last week and the neighbors fence had slats in it and they melted. They came over with a bill for $800.+ and want us to pay for it. Don't they have homeowners insurance for their storage place?? It was only 25 feet of fence.

If you are at fault for your neighbors' loss then you have to pay for it. Even if the neighbors have insurance, the insurance is for their benefit and not yours. It doesn't absolve you of your responsibilities. And if the insurance company pays for their loss, it will be allowed to sue you to recover the money.
