Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

Hi,

I have a car insurrance questions..

Can an insurance Agency issue you a policy that you never signed for???

Story below...(What i'm going throught right now)

Ive had nationwide insurance since May 09" (6 month policy that ive been renewing to date)

Around Nov/Dev 09" My boyfriend started working at "Farmers Insurance " and wanted to see if farmers was cheaper than Nationwide. So he did a uote for me.(That's all.. just a quote).Next thing i knew i started getting bills from Farmers. I told my boyfriend and he said he will talk to them and he did.. Farmers said they would take care of it... now I'm being sent to collections by Farmers cause i never paid for their policy/premium...

things i already did to try to fix

1) Called collection agency explaining my story and telling them i'm disputing.I was told to send a letter and a copy of my policy during the time i "supposedly" had farmers.

2) Spoke to collection agency to follow-up and was told that they needed my declarations page. I sent that out 2 weeks ago.

3) received a lettter from farmers on 8/3 stating that they cancelld my "supposed" policy on 11/09 (So why are they charging me?)

4) Today 8/5 i recieved a call from the collection agency because farmers is charging me for the premium..(Ahhhhhh)

5) I got the number to farmers from the collection agency. Spoke to someone there and they reffered me to the branch that sent me to the collection agency in the 1st place. WILL call on Monday 8/9 (with my boyfriend by my side) in hopes that this will finally get resolved. But if it doesn't any HELP would be greatly appreciated.

thank you....

sincerely FRUSTRATED. :(

Stop calling/speaking to people. Write letters. Evidently your BF was hungry for a commission and signed you up. Maybe he is the one you should be complaining to and/or suing.
