Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

Are my Parents liable for my actions if I live at home at 20yrs

My parents have a umbrella policy becuase the agent told them, if I was to get in an car accident they would be liable for any claims made against me. If I am 20, and I am the sole owner of the car, with my own insurance policy, but live at home, do they need this umbrella policy to protect them from my actions.

Do you ever go on errands for your parents or do them favors using the car? The cost of an umbrella is so cheap that it is a very good idea to have one. And your parents need it for their own protection, not just because of you. Don't they drive too? While the agent may have used a sales technique, he sold them the right thing.
