Legal Question in Intellectual Property in California

I was in a band and left. We recorded an album together and I had the songs that I wrote registered with BMI. Now that I am no longer in the band, do they still have the right to play those songs?

Under the facts given, you would have a pretty strong argument for a common-law copyright, and probably should see an intellectual-property attorney about further registration, licensing, royalties and related matters to protect your rights.
