Using Famous Quotes in Advertising

I work for a company that is planning on putting together a nationwide advertising campaign that will use quotes from famous sports icons (ie Ali, Joe Paterno, Vince Lombardi, Lou Brock, etc.).

What are the parameters of using these quotes legally in advertising? Do I need to find the source of where they said this to prove it was stated in public? If so, where would I find such information?

Any other help would be much appreciated!

It partly depends on whether you are considered to be using the name and "likeness" of the famous sports icons.

We would strongly suggest that you consult with a good intellectual property attorney.
