Intellectual

What is the first thing I should do to protect my interest on an idea even before I talk to a lawyer or anyone about it? Thanks.

Re: Intellectual

Steps:

1. Keep it to yourself (have a nondisclosure agreement with anybody to whom you tell the idea) (attorney-client confidentiality/privilege is enough to protect you without an NDA)

2. Register the work (if possible)

Copyright protects "expression" of ideas

Patent protects inventions, processes, etc.

3. Only share your idea/information with those you trust.
