Legal Question in Intellectual Property in California

Hi. Here's a question for you trademark pro's out there.

I'm about to name my company with a similar name to another company, and I want to create a logo that is similar to theirs as well. As a parody. Can I legally do this?

Some background on this: The companies are NOT in similar industries. Our products are completely different. My company name has a 1 letter difference and a dot in the name.

Here is an example (this is NOT my company, but it is sort of the same idea that I have a slightly different word, the logo is using the same colors and style of the real company's logo http://www.zazzle.com/gaypal_tshirt-235862271921462901 )

Could I legally do this?

If it is not likely to be confused then yes if it is clearly a parody.
