Legal Question in International Law in California

I inherited some money recently ,but my funds are in a spain bank.bank requested me to travel to spain in person for id purposes before transfer is done.due to medical purposes i can not travel.i have notified bank and they want me to hire one of two local attorneys they are familiar with to represent me .to avoid travel,and attorney is asking 3500 euros for his services plus money to notarize documents requested by bank how can i check to see if band rep and attorney are legit and is there a way to check on funds if they are indeed held in bank in question.

Sounds like an internet scam. Do you have relatives in Spain? How did you find out about this "inheritance"? If you received an email, this is almost certainly an "advance fee fraud." Don't send anybody any money.

Mr. Stone is right. This smells of an internet scam. I suggest you go to your regular bank and see if they can establish whether or not there is even a real bank and a real account in your name. If there is, have them contact that bank and assist you in transferring the funds to your bank.
