Legal Question in Investment Law in California

How can I get back my investment?

I have invested $100,000 into my friend's company which we have a verbal agreement that the business has no debts behind and the capital should stay in the company for expanding. However, I have not seen the bank statement and the balance sheet before investing based on a trust of the friendship. Now the problem is the information provided by my friend is far from the truth, and I wanted to take back my capital. What legal steps should I take to protect my investment from this dishonest deal?

Re: How can I get back my investment?

You have taken the first step, which is to seek out legal assistance. It is unclear from your question whether the whole investment agreement was verbal or just the background on the outstanding liabilities of the business. At minimum the first step should be to memorialize your agreement as you understand it to be. Feel free to contact me, I handle many cases like this and would be happy to assist you.

Yours truly,

Bryan
