legal age to be home alone

my child is seventeen...is that legal for me to go out of town for a few days and leave him home alone?

In general yes. Provided the child has no physical, emotional or behavioral problem that requires close or frequent supervision. In addition, provision should be made for daily check-ins by a relative, neighbor or adult friend in order to discourage the child from the temptation to party or have unauthorized overnight guest(s).
