Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Bonus compensation

I work for a non-profit organization. I submitted my resignation with my last day of employment being 7/13. Raises and an ''incentive to perform for next year'' were given retroactive to 7/1. I am being given the day off in lieu of retroactive raise payment, but am being told that I am not eligible for this compensation as I will not be here next fiscal year. Is this true?
