Legal Question in Employment Law in California

to whom it may concern i was laid off from job 12/24/2011 without prior notice. Then was told we would not recieve our checks until the 5th of jan. 2012. Then on the 5th of jan. I was told to bring my keys to the restaurant I was handed my check and was terminated. Also when asking about my check numerous times was told you cannot recieve it until the 5th so finally on dec. 30 I was a little impatient and went to ask my manager for my check i was beat up at the bar at the resturant and taken outside and it continued out there as well police were not notified.I was hospitalized that evening. Am I entitaled to any compensation from 12/24/2011-1/5/2012? And any other advice would be helpful. Thank you

First, under the California Labor Code, your employer only has 72 hours to pay you what you are owed or else they are subject to a statutory penalty. Secondly, you may have a claim for assault and battery. My office handles both types of these claims regularly. Feel free to contact us at 818-334-5711 or on my website at www.mrparkerlaw.com.
