Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Employer Arbitrarily Eliminate Sick/Vacation Time With No Notice?

Our company was purchased by a foreign entity. We just noticed on our paychecks that accrued sick time/vacation time is no longer showing. Since we can get no answers from management on site, can an employer arbitrarily do that?

An employer cannot take away vacation time you've already earned. They can however, change the policy to prevent you from earning any further vacation time. Sick time is not a vested right and can be lost is not used.
