Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Exemployer is giving false information to potential new employers.

I was on temporary disability when my employer

terminated my employment.My attorney sent them a

letter to which there mwas no response.During my job

search, I had several promising interviews, but no

call backs.

I found out that my previous employer was disputing my

resume.I contacted my former Production Manager, who

reviewed my resume and agreed to it's total accuracy.

I am 53 years old and can't find work! What can I

You should talk to your attorney or a new attorney that specializes in employment law. A former employer is strictly limited in what he/she may say about you without being in violation of existing law. You may be entitled to damages if you can show that what the old employer said prevented you from getting a job.

It is unlawful for a former employer to make false statements to a perspective employer. If that is what is happening, you have the basis of an action against your former employer.
