Legal Question in Employment Law in California

A friend bought a furnace from an HVAC company six months ago and in his contract they warrantied labor for one year for any failed part. The company has just gone out of business. They were a corporation. Is there any legal recourse against this company or the owners since he is going to have to now pay for the labor from another company to replace a motor that failed?

Going after the corporation owners is very hard. Your friend should wait and see if another entity takes over the business in bankruptcy and assumes the contracts.

Otherwise it would cost more money to hire an attorney over a few hundred dollar repairs, that you aren't even sure if they're ever going to be needed.
