Legal Question in Employment Law in California

gender discrimination in warehouse

I am 1 of 2 females in a warehouse.I have been here 2 1/2 yrs. in the rec./pack. dept.I have been in charge of the packaging area for over a year.I make most of the decisions in that area and do all employee training.I have asked if there is anything I need to do to improve and they said no,I'm excellent employee.I was there for over a year and put in for a lead position.A male who had only been working there for approx.7 mnths was given the promotion.I was told I was too timid.A full-time employee in our area has left the company and I asked to be made full-time and I still was denied. Is this a case of gender discrimination?

Re: gender discrimination in warehouse

you may have a claim for discrimination . . . you should consult with (1) a lawyer and (2) the local office of the California Fair Employment and Housing (FEHA) which will investigate the claim for you . . . but you must remember there are specific time limits to do this and if you miss the deadlines you may miss that opportunity to recover . . . good luck to you . . .
