No hire based on credit history

Is it legal for a company to not hire a person because the company ran the person's credit history and noted a house foreclosure on it. Otherwise, the applicant has sterling qualifications for the job.

"Legal"? Of course, the hiring decision is theirs to make. If they didn't get consent from you for the credit check, then there may be a privacy violation.
