Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I live in California and I was recently terminated on grounds of inappropriate conduct. I worked for a major retail store. I was terminated on sept 21, 2013 and I filed a confidential appeal and it was updated by hr on sept 27. It is 10/16/13 and they have not given me any updated and I have had to call hr 4 times and district hr once. I read that the maximum days they have for an answer is 14 calendar days. It has been 14 business days already and still have not received any word. I am wondering what my next move should be since hr isn't helping.

Look for another job.

You were an 'at will' employee terminated with no legal recourse. Waiting for an 'appeal' to change that is quite unreasonable, and delaying your job search.
