Legal Question in Employment Law in California

scientology

After 5 & 1/2 years working for a natural healthcare doctor, I was fired 2 weeks following the boss' insistance that I do a ''condition'' from the scientology book that read ''you are the same color as an enemy.'' I agreed to do anything work related, which they assigned me & I did what was asked, but they were very angry that I wouldn't agree to do the ''condition'' as it was written. 2 weeks later I was fired. The thing is, they use the L. Ron Hubbard Management in the office. Isn't this hostile work environment?

Re: scientology

You might argue that the boss was trying to impose a religious belief on you, and thereby was discriminating because of your religion. You might contact the CA Dept. of Fair Employment and Housing and file a complaint of discrimination.

Re: scientology

Sounds as if you have been discriminated upon on the basis of religion. I am not clear on the circumstances though. Please call me to discuss. You would have to file with the DFEH as a prerequisite for suit.

Yes it appears to be. Watch out for time deadlines to report and take other actions.

Re: scientology

Yes. It is illegal religious discrimination, by imposing their religion on you in the workplace, and illegal retaliation against you for your refusal. Feel free to contact me if serious about pursuing your claim if you think you have evidence to prove what you allege.
