Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I work for a car dealer as a Service Advisor, I am exempt status. My employer and the manufacturer will mail out coupons and I am required to take the discount out of my gross profit. Is this legal? I sometimes will lose in excess of $400.00 a month.

Something sounds wrong from what you describe. Are you an independent contractor? Why would you take money out of your pay if you are an employee? I must be missing something. Feel free to call my office 818 345-0123 on Monday and we can talk about this.

Employers are not allowed to reduce your pay for such things. If you can't resolve this yourself, then you to file legal action for recovery of all those improperly withheld amounts, with interest and penalties, and with attorney fees if you win the case.

If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me. Ill be happy to help fight and get the best outcome possible, whether by negotiating a quick settlement or taking it to trial if needed.
