Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I worked for the county for 8 years many years ago. I was discharged due to a bad performance evaluation. I never received severance pay, I was so naive that I didn’t even know I should have received it. Am I entitled to a pension from that job when the time comes even though I was discharged? Thank you for your time?

It would depend on the vesting terms of your public employee pension plan. However, I would be quite surprised if pension rights vested in only 8 years. Most PERS systems require much longer time in service. If you made employee contributions to the program, you may be entitled to a refund of those deposits. You'll have to contact your former employer's HR department.
