Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Animal died and our house smells

Recently an animal died underneth our house and flees came up through the floor. We notified our land lord and a pest guy came out and sprayed and removed the dead animal. However, the smell has lasted for a week now. We notified our landlord of the smell and its making my wife sick.

What else can I do?

Re: Animal died and our house smells

I believe landlord has done what he could, and should do.

Landlord is probably not responsible, unless you are able to show that a number of animals live under the house, landlord was aware of this, and has done nothing to correct the problem.

I do not think that you can win, unless you can show prior knowledge of landlord re the animal(s) under the house.
