Cross Connection Backflow in apartment
I live in an apartment and for the last year the water (and urine) from the toilet has backflowed into the sinks if the hot water was running.

Follow Mr. Cohen's excellent advice, and make sure your letter to landlord is certified mail, return receipt requested.

If you haven't talked to the landlord yet (and I'm sure you have), call the city/county Dept. of Health and have them do an inspection. That likely is a violation of the Health and Building Codes.
