Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

My daughter lives in San Fransisco. Her main door to the 6 apt. house was broken and would not lock unless pulled. Several tenants called the landlord but she did not fix it. My daughter was out of town and the landlord went into her apt.to fix the bathroom facet. The landlord was worried about mold so she told me she left the window open 1". When we got home the apt. was broken into. The police stated the thief pushed open the broken front door and climed into the apt through the bathroom window. Does the landlord have any responsibility? We do not have renter insurance.Thank-You

Assuming you can prove those facts, the landlord is completely responsible for the loss.
