Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Falsifying invoices

My former landlord has falsified an invoice to deduct from my apartment security deposit in California. To keep this question within the character limit, I will just state that I have proof of this from the invoice originating company. I have drafted a demand letter and will sue in small claims court if need be, but my question, is this falsification on their part criminal?

Re: Falsifying invoices

You should get a written statement from the company attesting to the falsfied documents and bring it to your hearing for the security deposit.

good luck.

You should consult with a attorney to understand your legal rights.

Re: Falsifying invoices

Yes! This would be larceny at a minimum, and possibly forgery.....assuming you can prove your allegations.
