Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

How can I find out if eviction process has begun on a home? I am renting a home that went back to the bank. The "realtor" left a business card on the door saying the process has begun.

I've seen nothing in the mail or on the door from anyone else.

Why do you not just call the realtor and ask for proof of what the situation is? Has the lender actually had a foreclosure sale or some how gotten title to the property [former owner giving a deed in lieu of foreclosure, etc.]? Do you mean whether foreclosure has started or whether the owner is moving to get you out of the premises, which is what an eviction is? If you are being evicted they must personally serve you with an eviction notice and then a summons and complaint. Go down to the county recorders office and look up the recorded documents as to the house to determine who the recorded owner is; go to the court house [or try on line] to see what suits have been filed against you and the "former" owner of the house.
