Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I found out my landlord is in foreclosure. The former owner came to tell me he would be taking the property back. No taxes have been paid nor is there homeowners insurance on the property any longer. The landowner has defaulted on everything to do with the property but still collects the rent. Now he is claiming bankruptcy too which has stalled the foreclosure due to close next month. My question is to whom do I pay rent to? I have this months and last months in an account but I do not want to pay a landlord whom is paying for anything on the property. The former owner knows we are good tenants and wants us to stay. Can i legally withold the rent till the former owner takes the property bacK

You should contact the bankruptcy trustee and obtain his/her direction. The rents are an asset of the bankruptcy estate now.
