Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Joint Lease

I share a lease with two other people. One of the other tenants has decided that he wants to move his girlfriend in and have me removed from the lease when it is due for renewal in June. This was being done in secret behind my back with the intention of telling me at the last minute, but I was informed by a friend that it was happening. What are my rights in this situation? What can I do to stop this as I cannot afford to move right now. The second roommate also does not agree with this since he found out.

Re: Joint Lease

If all three of you were equal he could not do that; the fact that you are asking the question implies that he is really the initial lease holder and you lease from him and not the landlord. If that this the situation, unless you are in a rent controlled area [he becomes your landlord and if there must be good cause to evict], he does not have to renew your lease ande can bring nayone in that he wants to. If this is not the case, one can not beat two.
