Having roaches might be considered a nuisance under your rental agreement. Usually, the landlord should give you a notice to abate or quit, and give you enough time to remedy the situation, such as 10 days. However, if the landlord already tried to have you rectify the situation and you were unable to or refused to do so, then it might just be a notice to quit. You might wish to consult with a tenants' attorney in your area to work with the landlord to resolve the situation so you can stay.
