Can a landlord let one tenant have a dog and not the other?

Hello, If an owner of a duplex wants to

allow one side of a duplex to have a dog,

does the owner have to allow the other to

have a dog? if not is that considered

discrimination

Even though you might be a pet's guardian, it's not considered family status discrimination! Perhaps the other person was there a long, long time. Try negotiating (in a nice way) with the landlord. Often, the landlord will require an extra month's deposit for cleaning and damage.
