Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

landlord/tenant

Can my landlord (whom is my boss and cousins husband) tell other tenants his reason for firing me? And what if that reason is a ''proven'' lie, such as, money laundering the rent checks. Tenants checked with their banks and found that their checks were deposited into his account. He and his wife are giving me problems. He's threatening me left and right and so is his wife.

Re: landlord/tenant

This is a strange question, and answer, and doesn't really concern landlord tenant law.

Assuming you have witnesses who will testify, you have slander and defamation of character (actually they are the same)...look it up in the law dictionary elsewhere in this website.

You also may have employment violations, such as sexual harassment.

I would consult a lawyer ASAP. What is strange is why you would continue to be employed by these people, relatives or not?
