Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Management company fails to provide copy of signed lease

Hollywood, CA.

On July 1, 2005, I signed a lease to rent an apartment for a term of six (6)

months. One and a half (1) 1/2 months rent as a security deposit was paid.

A copy of all signed documents was requested and I was then told that they

did not have a copy machine on-site; the management company would have

to copy and return them for pick-up. I asked twice during July and August.

At the end of August, I included a letter with rent requesting copies of the

lease. Nine (9) days have past. I have little if any confidence in my

relationship with this corporations representative property manager and fear

that ''invented and/or contrived claims'' may arise after performing, vacating,

and waiting 21 days for the return of my security deposit.

Thank you in advance for your recommendations.

Sounds like you might want to call the Rent Stabilization Board and ask their assistance in obtaining a copy of your lease.
