Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Last month my roomate and I rented a single family home for $900 (it was supposed to be $800, but the night before we moved in the "property manager" raised the amount to $900). We paid rent with a money order and never received our copy of the rental agreement. We have not met the landlord and he was supposed to do a walk through with us. We have this month's rent but don't trust that "property manager" because he will not give us our copy. The landlord is out of town until Sept. 21 and the property manager just gave us a handwritten 3 day notice to pay or quit. The notice didn't even have our last names on it. Do we have to move out or can we wait til the landlord get's back?

You may be able to defense the unlawful detainer lawsuit, if one is filed. You asked a separate question earlier - this sounds very much like the "property manager" is actually skimming rent from the property. You need to contact the police, the Department of Real Estate (if the property manager is licensed), and if they file an unlawful detainer lawsuit, file an answer asserting the proper defenses, and put it before a judge.
