Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I moved into a place in april 9th my best friend and her fiance lived two doors down. They were having problems and in may got evicted from their place. I let the both of them move into my place (may 10h). It was suppose to be temporary. They were suppose to leave that friday into a new place. They agreed to split the bills all in half. June 1 came around and no rent money was given to me which caused me to get served eviction papers (june 13th) as of the 5th my rent was late. which means by the time i was served my rent was barely a week late. I went through the eviction process. They were suppose to give me their half of the money & they eviction would have been stopped during this process i was told to keep the money I would have to go through the process and then pay it all to stop the eviction. the property manager/landlord agreed to this. But my roommates never gave me their half and now I have been evicted and still havent received a cent all though my best friends fiance claims he will give me the money but now on the 17th of this month "August" we all must be out and I'm afraid once we all go seperate ways I will never see what I am owed. My rent was $2,365.00, they were here from May 10 till now (August 17) pretty much 3 full months. We had a verbal agreement and I have saved conversation on my cell phone that they agreed to this. I would like to go to small claims court and sue for back rent & utilities. Do I have a good case?

You have an excellent case; if they have not paid you anything yet, why would you think they will pay anything in the future. They are deadbeats. End the friendship. They have twice failed to pay the rent now on two different places. Try to get some money from them as once you get a judgment they will still probably refuse to pay.
