Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

My office building conducted removing old wall paint and floor carpet of my workplace and replacing new ones in one weekend and let the tenant (us) in the next day. I have been suffering allergic reactions from excessive fumes and emissions since then for couple weeks by now. I am on and off medical leaves. WC claims is not solving the problem at all. Still strong odors at my workplace, and it seems I am given only one choice, quiting the job. Can the property management company be sued for the misconduct neglecting possible health hazard issues? (I am not looking for a WC lawyer at all)
