Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Remove myself as cosigner on apartment

I am cosigner for my loser child on an apartment on a month-to-month basis. What is the proper way to remove myself as cosigner so I am no longer liable? Can I just give the landlord a 30 day written notice that I wish to be removed as cosigner?

You should consult with the landlord to request removal as cosignor. He may request an additional deposit from your child however.

If you have additional questions you should contact any attorney in your area.

Good luck.

Chances are you will be very lucky to be removed, unless the loser child has money and/or a job.
