Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Signing a new lease

I've been living in an apartment and they just asked me to sign a lease for the next year, however my current lease doesn't end until August 31, 2007. They also said that if I didn't turn in the renewal, they would put my apartment back up for rent the following week. Can they actually force me to sign a new lease 6-7 months in advance?

Re: Signing a new lease

If you have not breached any covenants of your lease, the landlord should honor it. The only exception would be if the apartment was foreclosed. I would be glad to review the lease and review the correspondence you received from your landlord should you wish.
