Right Venue to Sue Small Claims?

Tenants damaged property under a leased house located in Upland. They moved to Highland where they live now. Where do I file a small claims lawsuit?

Normally, jurisdiction is where the defendant resides.

Different Small Claims Courts sometimes follow different rules. The best answer is that almost every SCC has a small claims "adviser". Call, or visit, the SCC adviser for both Upland and Highland, and follow the advice given.

In the jurisdiction where Upland is located. You can go to the court's website to look at where actions are filed based on the city. You would look for where to file an action for Upland.
